LAS VEGAS (AP) — Martina McBride, Jennifer Hudson, Willie Nelson and Carole King are helping Las Vegas open its new $470 million preforming arts center.
The star-studded concert on Saturday marks the grand opening of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Las Vegas.
Trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, violinist Joshua Bell and dancers from the American Ballet Theatre are also scheduled to perform during the nearly two-hour concert.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris is scheduled to host.
The performances will be taped for a national television broadcast to be aired at a later date.
The Smith Center’s inaugural season will feature cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Broadway hits “Wicked” and “Mary Poppins.”
Its campus includes a jazz cafe, a children’s museum and a small park designed for outdoor concerts.
