(Las Vegas, NV) – The first new coroner’s inquest in nearly two years is scheduled for May. The hearing centers on the death of Eduardo Lopez-Hernandez, who died in August 2010, after Nevada Highway Patrol troopers used a Taser to subdue him. It will be the first inquest since October 2010, when Clark County adopted new rules. The police union has challenged the changes in court. Eighteen hearings on officer-related deaths are pending.
