(Las Vegas, NV) – Black tie and evening dresses marked Saturday night’s grand opening of the $470-million Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The downtown Las Vegas venue’s first show was a mix of genres, from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, to Carole King and Mavis Staples, and some of Broadway’s best. The art deco theater, which is a keystone in the revival of downtown Vegas, begins regular performances tonight with a variety of artists scheduled for the next few weeks. You can check out the lineup at www.thesmithcenter.com.
